Does anyone chew gum or eat popcorn or nuts since being banded?

No gum or popcorn but I eat peanuts like it's going out of style, especially pistachios. Maybe we are not supposed to but so far, so good, and I am in the green zone.

i eat all of them. no problems with any of them and my band is pretty tight, but it also depends on what time if day it is and i must take breaks between eating the nuts as they become compact and can get stuck if i'm not careful

Yes to popcorn and nuts but no gum for me. Gum gives me horrible stomach aches within minutes.

I love nuts and enjoy them. In addition, they are a great source of Protein. I enjoy popcorn once in a while. As for gum, for some reason, it give me a problem.

Well,,,, Nuts I might have a few every now and then. popcorn is out and gum no way!

If it should slip and go down and get stuck ! How are you going to get that out ?

My Bariatric Surgeon said Gum is out the question ! So I don't even give it a thought.

My guy told me it better not ever be gum on a stuck episode, because if he has to go in and get it, he would really get in your case.

So,, I never bothered, and don't intend to.

i used to think that if you can get gum stuck then you band is way tooo tight, but know i can see how that would happen. i would hope for one i would never accidently swallow gum, but if i did i would be able to throw it back up. my surgeon never told me i couldnt have gum, but i guess everyone is different.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
