Amanda61082 28 Posted January 30, 2012 My two week liquid pre-op diet starts tomorrow. I always told myself that when I hit this spot, I would consider this the beginning of my journey. I have struggled with my weight, tried all kinds of weight loss ideas, felt uncomfortable in certain situations, been the fat funny friend, and tonight, as I look back on my past years being overweight, I feel almost sad. I feel like I am saying goodbye to that Amanda. That Amanda always felt awful about herself, and never comfortable. Tomorrow I am a new Amanda. I will be stronger, confident, healthy and happy. So when I wake up tomorrow morning, I will "mourn" the past Amanda very breifly, because I am dying to be the new Amanda! I know there probably isn't much to comment on this, but I just needed to express my feelings at the moment. I just never felt so ready for change. I found this quote tonight: “All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.” -Anatole France This sums it up. I hope everyone has an awesome night. Good night past Amanda! 1 Holly Dolly reacted to this

Chastndeb 19 Posted January 30, 2012 Amanda, congrats on your new degree! This is an exciting time...my surgery is scheduled for Feb 14 and pre op is Feb 28. My doc does not require a liquid diet, just the South Beach diet, which I am starting now. There seems to be a variety of pre and post surgery dietary rules, depending upon the doctor. I am interested in hearing about what liquids you recommend. The only Protein shakes I have tried so far are Atkins, Special K and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury. I plan on sampling post op stuff in the weeks before so I can stock up on the things I find most palatable.

I plan on sampling post op stuff in the weeks before so I can stock up on the things I find most palatable. I am on HMR 800 shakes now (www.hmrprogram.com), 5 times a day. I will be on these until the day before my surgery. After my surgery I was given a list of different shakes I can try. I will more than likely do the GNC Pro Performance powder, and I am on that, three times a day for about 2-3 weeks post op. I just had my first shake, and it tastes good. Taste just like Carnation. I tried using the blender, and it made it too foamy for my taste. I am going to try and use the Blender Bottle for my next one.
