stratty 1 Posted January 29, 2012 Hi. I'm Stratty and I had my lap-band surgery on January 18th. I am 53 years old, married for 28 years and have a 20 year old daughter who recently moved out on her own. My beginning weight was 298, but at the date of surgery it was 285.5. Today is day 12 post surgery and I have lost a total of 5 pounds. I thought my weight loss might be slow since I have struggled to lose weight after going through menopause. I am supposed to be following the opti-fast plan, which means I would be on straight shakes right now BUT I hate the taste of them. Also, I am believer in eating healthy, organic foods with little or no preservatives and the shakes are not healthy! I have moved on instead to mushy foods and have kept my calories about the same. I am excercizing on the treadmill every day between 30-45 minutes and I walk my dog daily as well. I know this will be a long process but hopefully it will help me to live the second half of my life a healthier person.
Cazzy 725 Posted January 30, 2012 Congratz on your weight loss so far the main thing with Protein is that you get enough of it, not that it has to come from shakes .. i stick to a healthy and organic diet most of the time and eat no preservatives. I am 57 and thought my weight loss would be slow due to menpause too but i found what worked for me and stuck to it, if u work out what is best for you and you continue to lose then stick to it and i am sure you will do fine ! good luck ! doctordiva 1 Posted January 30, 2012 Hi Stratty! I had surgery 1/19 and also have lost 6 pounds since then. I am very pleased. 6 pounds in 10 days is great! Remember that this isn't gastric bypass...the weight loss will be slow but steady. I am also having trouble getting all my Protein because I am just not hungry. I do like the shakes, but it takes me a long time to get one down. I am also on mushies now and have added other forms of Protein but it is hard to get more than 50 grams per day. Hang in there. Sounds like you are doing great!! Linda
stratty 1 Posted January 30, 2012 Cazzy-You are an inspiration! Wow, you have done great with your weight loss. I think my comments about not losing much yet were in response to so many people saying how they lost 13 to 16 pounds in their first week. I really do feel good. I'm not very hungry and I'm figuring out what types of foods work for me and which don't. Believe me, I'm in this for the long haul and will not give up!!! 1 USAF wife reacted to this

I have been adding unflavored (Unjury) whey protein to almost everything I eat to my protein numbers stay up there.Cathy
