Scar Tissue After Removal

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I had my band placed in 2002 and had problems ever sense.

I lost 80 pounds to gain it back after my saline was all taken out. Then it slipped and replaced .

Next I'm having all types of erosion acid build up and vomiting everyday. I went in to ask to take it out my original surgeon said risky so I got a second opinion. I received a revision on last Tuesday but there was to much scar tissue and he had to carve the band from my liver and other places. He said it was the worse case he had ever seen and he could not do the RNY and I may never be able to. This was due to the scaring internally. Has any one had there band removed and was able to be switched over to another. If so if your in Chicago can you give me any help please

Hi Newbie,

So Sorry to hereabout what has happen to you, Did they even tell you what started the problem do they even give follow up xray are ultra sounds along the way to make sure the band is still in place to see if the patient's are develpoing any problem. where you vomitting? Is that the reason they took out the saline in the first place.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
