What Am I Doing Wrong? Constructive Adivce Needed :)

Recommended Posts

I'm old school - calories in versus calories burned. I am not a believer in the "Starvation Mode", at least not in the same context people loosley use it around here.

Seems like you have the calories burned under control. Cut back your intake.

Plus, with the amount of excercising you are doing, your body is "toning" up. I hit the gym evry day and my weight loss has slowed way down, but on the other hand my clothes are fitting better.

I have access to a body fat % scale, and although my weight loss has slowed, my Fat index is steadily dropping.

Having the band properly adjusted does not equate to weight loss directly, but when properly adjusted it controls portion size and appetitie control, meaning it restricts calorie intake resulting in weight loss, provided one burns calories also.

But I am close to my goal and things are slightly different now.

I also was banded 11/30 and have only lost about 10lbs since surgery. Remember this is a tool only, the doctor said a pound a week is about all I will loss. You sound like you are going great. Keep it up and I'm sure the weight will come off.

This makes me nervous! I was banded on the 19th of January and lost 13 pounds. I weigh 225 now, but I am afraid it will come to a stop and not lose more. I was 244 at the beginning of January. So I had lost some before surgery too. Hope to lose 1-2 pounds a week. First fill in a week. Good luck. I think switching up the exercise type you do is a good thing too or skip a day or 2 for a little while because I think your body gets used to a certain schedule and doesnt respond as well to doing the same thing each time.

I don't think the calories are too high, especially if you're working out that much. Sounds like you need a fill; it would help with your hunger and you would eat less each time.

This statement contradicts itself!

I was banded Nov 30th, 2011 @ 226. I lost 10 pounds two weeks pre-op, 10 pounds 2 weeks post-op. Now since Dec 20th I have only lost 3 pounds to bring me to 203...

6X a week I run 3-5km

1X a week I play volleyball

2X a week I play soccer

I am eating between 1300-1500 GOOD calories. No snacking, no junk, whole foods ie: eggs, chicken, fish, veggies, high fibres... etc...

I am losing inches but the weight is not coming off at all. Should I just chalk this up to inches lost and the # will go down later? Am I not eating enough to sustain my work outs? Am I eating too much (I am hungry lots!!)

I have only had 1 fill to bring me to 4cc (had 2.5cc at time of surgery).. IS this what they call the Bandster hell???

Who has been here?? Who can help a girl out???

Thank you!!

hi i was banded in sept and i have only lost15 pounds

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
