I Got Unfilled Today...

Recommended Posts

I hadn't had a fill since July and I was optimized. I was going in for my 1 year check up and considered a fill because I only lost 7lbs since August.

My appetite had gone up, but probably not enough to need a fill, I just wanted it.unsure.png

I got a .5ml fill on Wednesday and since I had to get some of my fill taken out before, I took it slow and did all liquids until Friday. It was difficult keeping down even the clear Soups and liquids but I thought the swelling would go down. I had some Soup with little pieces of corn on Friday evening and PB'ed. Saturday morning, I could barely keep Water down so I called the surgeon and he met me in ER and took out all the Fluid in my band.

I'm almost at my 1 year mark so I'm kicking myself for getting a fill. I was losing and maybe not at the pace I wanted but now I have to start over, fill wise. I'm hoping my story can help encourage you to take it slow.

I will never understand why they would take out ALL the Fluid when it seems like just a tiny unfill would have done the trick.

I had a complete unfill 10 months ago because I wasn't able to keep anything down either. I put on quite a bit of weight but they thingk due to me be dehydrated most of it was Water weight. I did put on some extra pounds but my doctor wasn't too concerned however I'm still struggling to find my "sweet spot". Trying to get back on track but the weight hasn't came off but I'm still losing inches.

I 've had the same problem since Oct when I had my revision due to sliappage. I finally am back at 5 cc and seem to be okay, unless I eat something I should not. I am loosing again, and that is my main thing, as I had gained about 10 lbs between OCt and Jan. Good luck to us all , Karen

I have a similiar story. My band had shifted down so they took half my Fluid out. Ugh, right before Christmas! I went back last week and they gave me half of what they took out before. I haven't noticed a big difference and am mad at myself for being greedy in the first place and getting a fill when it wasn't absolutely necessary. I guess it's a learning process so hang in there Suzahhn.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
