Hi everyone!

Today I had an ultrasound to determine the reason for my elevated liver enzymes. I have gall stones. I kind of thought I might since I have had all the symptoms of of an attack since August. I initially thought that it was very bad gas that just wouldn't go anywhere but they have gotten progressively worse. Anyway my doctor has prescribed actigall (ursodiol is the generic). I will be seeing him next friday to discuss my options but I'm pretty sure that it will surgery. My question to you all- has anyone else had gall bladder issues after banding? And is it ok to open up the capsules and mix the drug w/ applesauce? The pills are pretty big and I'm worried about them getting stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I'm sorry to her about your gallstones. My doctor was proactive in that he prescribed the ursodiol prior to surgery so that the prescription was already filled and at home. Yes you can crush thm and put in applesauce or why ever is easy for you. Still do not chew but swallow the crush tablet. My doctor said it was the only way to take them. I hope they work so surgery is not needed.

Thanks. I wish that my doctor had prescribed them from the time of my surgery. My mother had her gall bladder removed when she was about 50 so I guess I might have developed them anyway.

Hello,

I had my LB surgery in November. Yesterday my LB surgeon took out my gallbladder. He told me that I probably had stones long before the surgery but eating a low calorie diet pushed the symptoms further. I will let you know if it is helpful. The surgeon used 3 of the same scars from LB surgery for my gallbladder surgery and one new one. I am much more nauseous with this surgery but not as much gas pain. I am really praying it will get better because before the surgery, eating was a chore and the back pain was not fun! I hope it works out for you!

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
