HunnyBun 2 Posted February 18, 2006 I have been having sharp pains in my left breast. They aren't tender pains like I get before a period, but sharp pains that feel liek are deep inside the breast. They feel like a poking, sometimes a harsh squeeze, even so bad sometimes it feels like someone is stabbing it. Does anyone know what causes such pains that last for more than a week now? I'm gonna get checked out by the doctor if it doesn't stop, but am looking for a little peace of mind in the mean time.
Penni60 45 Posted February 18, 2006 I sometimes get those similar feelings in my Right breast. I have fibrous breast that become aggravated by too much caffeine. Not sure if that is what is going on with you but getting checked out is a good thing. Keep us posted.
princess_n_thep 2 Posted February 18, 2006 I have the same issues as Penni does. That is why mine get that way too. Have you had a sonogram check of your breasts for deep fibrous masses?
HunnyBun 2 Posted February 19, 2006 I've never had my breast checked out, probably because I'm pretty young still and never thought it was necessary. Never had problems before this. Thanks ladies for the advice. I will take a couple advil when it gets bad and will make an appointment on Monday. Maggie
paula 4 Posted February 19, 2006 Maggie - Do you have an OBGYN that you see regularly? If so, Id call his nurse and see what she has to say.
princess_n_thep 2 Posted February 19, 2006 How young is "pretty young"? I am 32 now and when I was 29 they found 3 masses in my breasts that they biopsied. They found them because I finally told them about the pain and tenderness.
NeenBand 7 Posted February 20, 2006 I have that too, but for me it's Costocondritis. It was so bad once (and I was not diagnosed) that I took myself to the ER and was in for 3 days getting my heart checked out.
FunnyDuddies 6 Posted February 20, 2006 I have this too. It is called an annoying DH that likes to poke and grab at inopportune times. LOL All kidding aside, there is no "too young". You should have a good OBGYN and you need to go have that checked out. Be sure. Good luck!!
HunnyBun 2 Posted February 20, 2006 To answer your question, I am 23. I do have an obgyn and will call his office tomorrow. Thanks a lot! Maggie
chameleon 0 Posted February 20, 2006 Mags, Do you drink much coffee or tea or any caffeine? Many times that is the culprit, but definately, please go see your gynee, just to rule out anything else, also, if you have any family history of breast cancer at all ask your obgyn for a baseline mammogram. I had my daughter have one when she was 20 because of my history. It's likely nothing too scary though so don't worry too much...just go to your gynee! Marimaru 7 Posted February 20, 2006 I get the same thing sometimes. I have annual exams (I'm also 23) so I haven't been too concerned. Right about the time I start to get really worried about it goes away. I'll have to see if caffiene has anything to do with it..
