I am pre-op diet and Dr told me to replace meals for the next 5 days with high Protein low calorie shakes. Went to GNC and they told me Isopure was the way to go. Any feedback on isopure drinks?

That is what I used and it was on the list of Protein Drink I could have from my Dr. Office.. I would get the vanilla Flavor and put frozen fruit and blend it in my blender... Was pretty good! if there is a Vitamin Shoppe near you I would buy Isopure from there. GNC is just way TOO EXPENSIVE! you would be amazed in the price difference between stores!

Thanks for the input on stores. The Isopure I purchased comes in a clear bottle, you do not mix it?

I ordered a case of Isopure fruit flavored Protein drinks before I had surgery cuz my nurse told me they tasted like Jolly Ranchers. They don't. I drank one (took me all day to get the thing down) and gave the rest to my brother in law. If you bought the frut flavored ones, make sure you taste them before that's the only thing you have to drink.

I LOVE the Isopure zero carb Protein Drinks. The ones in the clear bottle that aren't milky. My fav flavor is the blue. My only problem with them is the cost. They are a bit pricey at $6 a bottle. Everyone has different tastes so your best bet is to get one and try it.biggrin.png

I agree the drinks are hard to get down, the only one I could stand was the grape flavored one, try diluting them with a little Water.

For Protein powder drinks, you can get Pure Protein 100% whey for $17.00 for a large, large jug at Walmart. One scoop with 1 cup skim milk, 1 splenda and a handful of ice blended in your blender make a nice, chocolately shake that tastes great at about half the price of the Isopure. However, I too really enjoy the Isopure clear protein drinks in the bottle, especially grape. I drink at least 1/2 a 20 oz bottle daily to boost my protein intake (I am just 16 days out from surgery). They are expensive but you can shop around.

Buy the least amount possible in case you dont like them...and stand next to your sink or a bucket when you try them! I had to yak it right back up, it tasted like old bones and I think I saw sea monkeys in it! But some people love it!

I buy the Premier Protein drinks at costco. They just taste like sweet milk. Not thick and no mediciney taste. They are 160 cals and 30 grams of Protein and I still drink one every morning.

I tried all the flavors of the RTD Isopure and they all had a horrible after taste (chalky). While the Protein amount is great, I just could not take it!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
