I like the premier shakes from costco. They are 160 calories, only have 1g of sugar and have 30g of Protein. They taste pretty ok. I also drink Boost on occasionally but it is higher in calories and sugar and they only have 15g per bottle. I also find that drinking the shakes through a straw helps me to taste the shakes less

I drink the body fortress whey Protein Powder from Walmart. It comes in different flavors has only 1 gram of sugar and 52 grams of Protein per scoop. I put it in the blender with lowfat milk and ice and it tastes like a milkshake.

Plication in a procedure where they fold and suture the stomach into a sleeve, it is similar to the sleeve gastrectomy except your stomach isn't removed. The procedure is relatively new but initial studies show that when done with the band it can help to preven band complications like erosion and slippage. Also the weight loss rate is a little faster than with the band alone. If you are with true results I believe that they are a practice that does offer the band with plication, it is also called the iband.

I did a quick search at www.costco.com and there are a few locations in the Houston area. If you don't already have a membership ($50/yr) it may not be worth it get it just for the shakes alone (though I usually find that if they have a gas station the savings from gas alone makes the membership worth it, also they have discounted movie tickets that saves you about $2-3 a ticket). Also if you know someone with a membership you can ask them to by the shakes for you or ask them to get a costco cash card for you (apparently you don't need to have a membership if you have the cash card)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
