Bostongurl 0 Posted February 18, 2006 i consider myself a pretty patient woman, but today I found out that my MMPI (physch test) wont be until April. Which means I'm looking at another couple months at the soonest. I feel like i've been waiting soooo long, and now another few months before I even have the procedure. How long did all the Pre-op stuff take for you all?
Mona 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Hey there Boston! Don't be discouraged, I've been tryin' to have this thing done for around 2 years now---but I was in the middle of a not-so-nice divorce too. My (ex) husband told me that if I continued to pursue the lapband surgery then I could pack my bags and go back to my mom and dad--that really hurt too. Anyway, God is good and He gave the grace to carry on. I lost my insurance and had to start the process all over again. Presently I have had my consult visit and psych evaluation. Just waitin' on BCBS insurance to send my surgeon a letter of approval. Well, hope to get to talk to you again. I wish you the best.
Sunta 5 Posted February 18, 2006 Hi, My pre-op stuff took about five months "door to door". I started in September and am having surgery this Tuesday. It's a looong wait, but trust me, the last few weeks fly by at lightening speed. I can't believe my surgery is in three days!!! It is long, but hopefully, it will be worth the wait. Mona 0 Posted February 18, 2006 That's great! I wish you the best and I hope you will let me know how your procedure goes. Thanks for your response. I understand how long it can take as well but I'm in this thing for the long haul. Best wishes!
Veritas 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Hi Boston - Yes, Pre-Op stuff is time consuming, isn't it!?!?!? I'm not sure what hoops you have to jump through, but I had to do the following: sleep Study (2 of them before it was all said and done) Psychological Evaluation EKG A whole lotta blood work Visit with Nutritionist It seems like I'm forgetting something, but that's the gist of it. Once that was completed I consulted with the surgeon and got insurance approval. From start to finish (well, I'm not banded just yet, but that's another story) it took me about 6 months. I'm sure I could have gotten it done sooner if I'd been more dedicated but it was expensive and time-consuming. Nature of the beast I guess. Keep your chin up. It will be worth it! I am so excited to get my band and get on with my life!
Mona 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Hey there Kayla! Thanks for your message--I just checked my mail this morning--a few minutes ago. Sorry to hear about your set back but I know it will all be worth it as I'm sure you agree. I'm excited for you. I have already had my consult visit over a week ago and now I'm just waitin' to hear approval from my insurance company. I too have had a sleep study--2 weeks ago and I still haven't heard the results of that one. Well, I wish you the best and I hope we can stay in touch through all this. May God bless you.
