Surgery 2/17 But I'm Scared Now

Recommended Posts

Just had my first surgery ever too 4 days ago. I was scared about not waking up too and all the other big "what ifs". But I'm here to say you literally close your eyes for what seems like a minute and then you wake up and it's done. The biggest surprise, for me there was not much pain at all. Everyone is different but the my stomach where the incisions are was the sorest Monday and Tuesday but starting yesterday I noticed a huge difference. No unbearable gas pains or nausea, which I was really scared about too. I'm eating when I feel just a little hungry and it doesnt take alot to fill full. The best news of all, I have lost almost 5 lbs since Monday fruitsex.gif

I , too, am so very nervous about surgery also, so you are definitely not alone. I have my last appt next week where my surgery date will be planned for the next 30 days after that. I have never had surgery of any kind, so I am not looking forward to it, but......I know I NEED this tool to help me get it off and KEEP it off once and for all. I wish everyone well with their upcoming surgeries. I said a little prayer for all on this forum. May God bless and keep us all. smile.png

Hope everything came out fine during your surgery. I was scared at first too, but then I thought of my long term goal.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
