Ann_Marie 1 Posted January 24, 2012 I just finished all my pre-surgery test yesterday. I am schedued to meet with my doctor on 02/01/12 to schedule my surgery date. Her assistant told me that it would more than likely be 2 weeks from the 02/01 date. I am concerned because I am scheduled for a business trip at the end of the month (02/27). Do any of you know if I should postpone my surgery to after my trip?? will it matter or will a flight complicate my recovery? I plan on telling my doctor about the trip and asking her for her advise..... But it seems like I am stressing out over this because #1 I want to schedule the surgery asap and #2 I cant cancel my trip
Shellyac 22 Posted January 24, 2012 I was banded in FL on January 6th and flew back home to MD on the 21st. I had no problem at all flying and I honestly could have flown earlier than that. Michelle
JustDoIt130 369 Posted January 24, 2012 I have a history of embolisms following surgery, due to flying after breaking my ankle, and all my dr said was wait 2-3 weeks. Maybe try to meet the surgeon earlier, or maybe when you express concern about flying they'll do surgery sooner than 2 weeks after that appointment.
motivatedlap 8 Posted January 24, 2012 I did a 14-hour, non-stop flight 3 weeks after surgery and it was fine. I made sure to get up and walk around as much as possible. The best advice will probably be your doctor's!
