Jachut 487 Posted January 24, 2012 We dont get told to focus on Protein in Australia, and I dont like Protein Shakes, so quite simply, I never drink them. I never replaced that protein with anything other than three normal meals a day. I doubt I get 100 grams plus of protein a day, I dont count, but I lost weight, very successfully and have kept it off for a good couple of years. You just dont need to worry about it that much. Eat a balanced diet and you will get enough protein. Post op, I did make smoothies with milk and fruit. Perhaps yogurt. You can always chuck an egg in tool. Cocoabean 430 Posted January 24, 2012 My surgeon said NO Protein Shakes. After my pre-op diet, I did clears, then full liquid, then solids. He does not want me having liquid calories, period. So check with your surgeon, you might be stressing over shakes for nothing. I bought tons of the stuff getting ready for surgery based on what I had read here only to be told I'd not be using them. I ended up throwing them out. Now I have a shake once in a while if I am bored with my diet. I use one called Isagenix, you can order online. But it really comes down to individual taste. B From Texas 1 Posted January 24, 2012 I use a bullet style blender and it works great getting the grit out. You have to add a little ice, for some reason it helps it mix up better. Good luck to you.
