chyna86 17 Posted January 23, 2012 Cigna's requirements state a BMI of 40 and above requires no co-morbidities. This is what they say......but Im wondering if they really mean it. I was tested extensively last year and everything came out normal. My BMI is now 40 on the dot. It would be horrible to go through the 6 month time frame and be denied because of such. Has anyone been approved by Cigna with no other health issues found??
jmb120 0 Posted January 23, 2012 I was approved by Cigna and I have no health issues. I had to show that my BMI was greater than 30something for more than 5 years. I'm sure that you will be fine, they go on your starting weight/bmi not after the 6 month supervised diet. I was banded on 12/15/11 and have lost 17lbs. jmb120 0 Posted January 24, 2012 5 years? Not sure if I can even think back that far lol. they required that I show proof that I had been overweight for more than 5 years. They wouldn't accept a pregnancy weight, not even at the beginning of my pregnancy. I hadn't been going to the doctors, but luckily I had a college physical in 1998 in which my bmi was just slightly over the 30something BMI that they required. It worked and I was approved as soon as they got that info.
