From Alberta, Canada Being Banded March 2Nd In Vancouver.

Hello I have been on here since Nov 2011 but I didn't introduce my-self. I live in a small town in the east part of Alberta, I am going to be banded on March 2nd in Vancouver through the surgical weight loss centre by Dr.Philip Mitchell. I am going to be 35 at the end of the month I weigh 296lbs I'm 5foot 6 inch which gives me a BMI of46 something if I remember correctly.

I have been really excited, until just the past few days as I keep looking at you tube stuff on lap band vs the sleeve, I'm not sure if I'm making the right choice.. I sure hope so.

I have found my_self eating like crazy thinking this will be the last time I may have it. I start my

pre-op slim time drink on Feb 16th.

anyways I just need to stop dwelling on it and just go with the flow.

I am having surgery with Dr Mitchell in April in Vancouver. He is very skilled, and I have no doubts in selecting him.

I wouldn't worry about choosing the Band over other proceedures because the Band is so non-invasive that you can still go for something else down the road.

Good luck with your surgery. I am from Calgary and I was banded in Vancouver by Dr. Mitchell last October and it has been a very positive experience. The lapband is working for me, but your and Dr. Mitchell need to decide what procedure would work best in your situation. What you are experiencing is "head hunger" and not real hunger. Your relationship with food changes with the band, however, every now and then I still have "head hunger". This type of eating decreases with time and I am getting better at recognizing it when it happens. This recognition is what was missing from the many other diets that I had tried in the past. I am still able to eat whatever kind of food I want, just in much smaller quantities. My weight loss is slow, but steady (except when I am on vacation and the good news, I stay the same weight). Thanks everyone between you comments and talking to my mom im back on track. Today i got the mountain of paperwork from the swlc to fill out so its also got me excited about it again. Just over five week till surgery.
