Hi All!

I just had to share a pretty cool app I've been using the last couple weeks. It's called "Lose It!" and it's free on the Android market.

Unlike others, making an online account isn't required (but it is possible). It tracks your weight loss, goals, and food intake. The cool thing is, it's all adjustable to meet your specific needs.

I use it to track my food. Everything I eat, I enter. You can enter food by brand name, scanning them via bar code, or manual entry. Once you've used a certain food once it's easy to "pick from previous meals" and use it again.

I really like it also tracks nutrients. On any given day, I can see how many grams of Protein I've consumed, what percentage of my diet was carbs vs. Proteins, fat consumed, etc. Of course it also shows calories consumed. It'll also showing me weekly averages. I find this very helpful, especially for tracking my Protein intake, because I see the big picture at a glance and know specifically what I need to change (or what's working and not to change).

When you set it up the first time, it'll ask your starting weight and goal weight. Then, it'll ask how fast you want to lose it, the most possible being 2 pounds a week. It will then calculate how many calories you can consume daily to reach your goal. As you loose weight and enter it in, it not only tracks your weight loss but also adjusts the number of calories you can consume.

If you don't want to consume a high amount of calories (like me), you also have the option to adjust your daily intake goal.

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my find with you all. :)

Here's a link to it if anyone is interested: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fitnow.loseit&feature=related_apps#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEwOSwiY29tLmZpdG5vdy5sb3NlaXQiXQ..

Cool!! Thanks! Do you find it to have a lot of foods, or do you have to add in a lot of the foods you eat?

The only thing it didn't already have was the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury shakes. But even then, all I did was scan the bar code and it added it for me in seconds. It's really quick and easy.

Oh, it even has restaurant foods in it! So you can easily track when eating out!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
