bread,

Welcome! You're in North Carolina then? Where? If you're near Charlotte, there is a group of us meeting at Ruby Tuesdays right off I-77, the Arrowood Rd. Exit for lunch tomorrow at 11 a.m. We have an awesome group of people here, very loving, very caring.

Who are you seeing next week?

Hey there! I read your thread and I'm excited for you. So is this gonna be with your surgeon? Do you know when your surgery is gonna be? Do you have insurance that will pay? I'm waitin' on approval from my insurance company--BCBS of TN. May God Bless you as you continue on this journey.

Mona,

Condensed version, I had all of my preliminary stuff completed by the 1st week in December and have been waiting for the surgeon to have enough patients to be re-certified by Inamed. I'm tired of waiting, and Dr. Voellinger has agreed to take me. Since I have all of my prelims done, and have one of the more liberal insurances for WLS in this area, I hope to be banded very quickly, maybe even before the end of March! :D After waiting so long, I'm very excited.

Hey Karen! I'm so excited for you in this. But what do you mean 'waiting for the surgeon to be re-certified'? I guess it doesn't really matter just so long as a good surgeon can do this for you. It has been a long road for me as well. And I agree with your scripture verse "I can do all things...". I'm a christian and I believe that the Lord is gonna see us through this journey. I hope to get to continue to talk with you through this journey. May God bless you.

I just noticed that your name is actually Carroline; so why "Mona"?

Inamed, the company that makes the Lap Band implant, requires surgeons to be "certified" in Lap Band surgery. If a doctor changes hospitals, they require re-certification. The doctor I first went to moved to Charlotte from Chicago, and thus has to be re-certified. To be certified, the surgeon has to have 2-3 patients scheduled for surgery on the same date before Inamed will send a surgeon to proxy their technique.

Where in Tennessee do you live?

 Hey there. My first name is actually Ramona but I go by carroline. I just thought 'Mona' seemed a little different. Anyway, thanks for the reply. I'm from east Tennessee near Chattanooga. I'm working hard to "get all my ducks in a row" so to speak. Today I found out that I have to go for a psych evaluation and I have to show my insurnace company that I have been on some sort of structured diet plan within the past two years. But then again, I have been on a structured diet plan off and on for the past 10 years and I haven't been able to keep off the weight. Oh well, go figure I guess...lol. God is in control of this thing anyway so I don't have to sweat it. Hope all is well with you and I hope to hear from you soon. May God continue to bless you.:car:

Thank you Carroline! I hope your journey is quick and uneventful. There's no way to know how long it will take from start to band surgery. It varies by surgeon and insurance company.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
