No pain at all just a little tint sting, less than a mosquito bite, if they do it right. I've had 6.

Mine didn't hurt at all. My doc gave me lidacain (or however you spell it) to numb the area first then did the fill. It didn't hurt one bit, only a little sting. 001_smile.gif

i never look at the needle. my doc numbs the area with a needle that is compressed air. quick pinch and then i dont feel a thing! no pain. my doc does fluroscopy. hope your fill goes well!

As long as your port has not fliupped, it is easy peasy.

My fills have never hurt. It's just like getting a shot and once it's in the port you don't really feel it because it's insite plastic. I don't understand why they feel the need to numb the area .... that's a shot too. It may just be a mental thing to make the patient feel better about the fill, but it's not really needed. Oh, by the way .....it's Lidocaine (I use it daily at work)

I am due Tues for my first fill, Im glad too as i think I can eat maybe a little too much? not gained but not really lost anymore. but after 24 lbs every body can see the difference already so --slow and easy- I am good with that.

My doc uses a gel to numb the area, not a shot.

I had my first fill this morning. The doctor swabbed the area around the port incision to sterilize it, numbed me up, and then before I knew it he was done. He was able to put 2.75 cc in today. I go back in five weeks for my second fill. I'm excited to see how I feel after just this little bit added to the band. :)

ROFLOL.....WOW THAT'S IT???? I was scared for nothing...I felt nothing at all...he sprayed this really cold numbing stuff on my stomach and then he said "see, that didn't hurt now did it?" I was shocked b/c I didn't even know he had stuck the needle in. I mean i felt NOTHING>>>>no pinch, no sting, nothing....yea me...and he put in 3/12 cc's, sure hope i feel something...if not i go back in a month for more...the worst part is now i'm back on liquids for 2 days..that sucks.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
