Never gain weight again

Recommended Posts

For me if I could keep it up longer than 4 -5 months at a time I wouldn't need the band. If I had the persistence and will power and determination for long term weightloss then why did I have need for the band? I needed the band because I don't have these things. Just because the band is in me now doesn't automatically make those things stay around. I get going some months really good with eating right and exercising and then I will go a few months not doing any of that. I know it's supposed to be a daily fight, but most days I don't have it in me. I guess I just don't want it bad enough as some of you say. It is not a magic pill but I have been lucky that with enough restriction I won't gain tons of weight on my off months.

Just call me Negative Nelly because I fully believe you are on band high at the start. Usually the only reason I get motivated is because I think in my head that people that know I have this band are looking at me thinking why isn't she losing weight? She had WEIGHLOSS SURGERY! What is wrong with her? I can barely eat more than 10 bites at a time, but still keep the weight on unless I am exercising. Well, between working 50 hours a week, going to college, and living 45 minutes away from all of this it is hard to get motivated to workout, when I can barely motivate myself to stay up until midnight to do homework.

My band keeps me from gaining at this point it is the most I can ask from myself. I'm so happy for people that can do more with their band at this point and I'm sure in a few weeks I will get back on track, but don't beat us down because this is our REALITY.

THis was long and rambling sorry. I've been saying that so much lately that I need to put it in my signature! HA!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
