Yolie, you are in my prayers. It really is a simple surgery, and like Corianna the 8th is my birthday also. So nothing bad could possibly happen.

It's a minor procedure. just make sure to walk around while in the hospital as much as you can. You will be in some pain while in the hospital but should be fine a day or two after you return home to where you won't need the pain meds they send you home with. After you eat, walk around your house. You will literally feel the gas bubbles moving about your body trying to escape. Other then that, you'll be off to the races with the weight loss. You will loss the majority of your weight the first two weeks so enjoy!

i was just banded mid dec, and honestly it was a breeze. ive had more trouble and discomfort with a dental appt. i was at the hosp at 5;45 am, rolled into the operating room at 8, and the next thing i know the nurse woke me up at 9;30 and said youre done !! i left the hospital at 11am feeling a little tired but fine otherwise.(put a waterbottle and some lifesavers in the car for the ride home-i had the worst cottonmouth all day !!!!) i rested on the couch for 2 days and by the 3rd day i was so bored i went and did some lite xmas shopping. other than the left side feeling like a bad pulled muscle for 10 days, it was all so easy ! lost 14 lbs total so far. you'll do fine! good luck to you, and see you on the other side !!

I, too, had my Lap Band surgery yesterday. I was in and out in 6 hours. My port incision hurts like the devil and I feel full of gas, but otherwise doing much better today. I hope that the others that had surgery yesterday are doing well. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I'm hoping to feel good enough to catch up on my blogging tomorrow. I just set up a weight loss ticker on My Fitness Pal so I can start tracking the loss. Take care new friends!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
