Marianne390 0 Posted January 16, 2012 Hi..I was banded in December of 2010 and things were going great for several months...then I got a stomach flu and was violently throwing up. This is what I think caused the prolapse of my band. It took several months for the surgeon to decide it needed to be corrected, and she unbuckled it and left it in. This happened in October of 2011. It made me feel better almost immediately, and once my stomach healed and the swelling went down the doctor was going to buckle it back up. Well, as luck would have it my insurance company denied the claim stating my bmi wasn't high enough! I had to appeal the decision and it did end up being approved. In the mean time, I gained 25 pounds back from the 55 I had lost! Anyway, January 12th I had it buckled up again and I am very happy to have my band back! The big problem is nausea...I did not experience this the first time I was banded. I have tried gas ex, tums and Pepto Bismol. I also have been waking up at night with terrible indigestion. I take Tums and it goes away but I can't figure out why I am feeling this way! I was instructed to be on clears for the first day then on to full liquids, which I have been doing. I have no real hunger, but I am frustrated with this nausea! Anyone got any idea why this is happening? It has only been 4 days since I had surgery. Any input would be appreciated! elcee 3,341 Posted January 16, 2012 It's probably a reaction to the anaesthetic - they may have used a different 1 to the previous surgeries. I hate anaesthesia as it always makes me feel sick afterwards
xavier 153 Posted January 16, 2012 If Tums helps it sounds like heartburn (gastro esophageal reflux disease) and you probably need to be on a daily pill for it...I take Protonix.
