Cranky with a headache

Recommended Posts

Newbie here, making the decision to get banded.

I understand that there is a pre-surgery diet with nutrisytem, liquids and soft foods for about 2 weeks or so?

I know that whenever I get legit hungry (like no Breakfast and its noon) not just when I have an appetite that I get a headache. A real nasty headache. I also get cranky or to be frank...bi$%&chy. I am going through menopause so it just a hormonal roller coaster anyway.

How do you get through those weeks with that strict strict diet before you have the surgery to get banded????

I can't imagine what a pain I will be to live with or work with.

Thanks so much

Best-

Diva who might just move into a hotel and go on sabbatical for the pre surgery diet to keep friends and family safe!

It's not going to be fun, but you get through it a day at a time. I weighed myself every day during this time... The weight loss kept me motivated. I just kept telling myself that if I had to make it through without cheating to prove that I was really ready for this lifestyle change. Good luck - you can do it!

Hi, I am on a 10 day liquid diet right now in anticipation of my surgery on Tuesday. Honestly, it hasn't been easy but it's been doable if that makes sense. I have been drinking 3 slim fast shakes per day and can also have crunchy vegetables but that is it. Honestly, the shakes give you the nutrients that you need and if you drink lots of Water then that should help the headaches.

Like Anne just posted above- weighing myself daily has been a huge motivator!

Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
