First, congratulations.

My question is, if you are banded, what was it that was so "Dammmm Hard" for you in the process???

First, congratulations.

My question is, if you are banded, what was it that was so "Dammmm Hard" for you in the process???

I was banded Feb 2011, I am down 80 some pounds. I still find it a struggle many days. The band has not controlled my hunger like I was hoping it would. Everyone is different. My brother had it a year before me and he can go all day without eating and not be hungry. Me? I am hungry about 2 hours after eating. I eat between 1000-1300 calories a day and aim for 60 grams of Protein. So what may be easy for some, isn't easy for all.

Thanks everyone. @ B-52. Well there are several things that have been difficult for me. Making myself exercise three days a week for the past 2+ years. Learning not to overeat. Learning what to eat. Being consistent. Not giving up even when I had setbacks. Going through hunger spurts. Days when I felt I just couldn't get enough to eat. N

Congrats on your progress. I don't think it is easy either. I am happy for people that it is easy, but for me, changing my entire lifestyle is challenging so I can relate. Making the time for exercise is one of those things. And with three kids and a very demanding job, it is really hard to find time in my life for me. I understand where you are coming from. You are doing a great job.

Wow, I am so sorry that someone questioned what was hard about your journey. Being banded doesn't make it "easy" to lose weight. It is a tool in weight loss, but there is so much more to it. Most people who have WLS have mental attachments to food. We need to overcome any emotional issues that have allowed us to have weight issues. We need to commit to exercise, learn our bodies, and deal with the band's sensitive nature. What can you eat today? When you can eat, dealing with how not to overeat. Relearning our bodies at every fill. It is SO Dammmmmmmn hard and I am proud of you for sticking with it. I am sorry someone questioned your experience and tried to belittle the hard work you have put into a healthier, thinner you! The band didn't do it, YOU did!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
