Hi,

Has anyone every used Protein Shots to get their daily Protein in? Do you know any that are tasty but also low in calorie? I am having a heck of a time getting all my daily needs in. I'm finding myself extremely tired and zapped of energy. I had my surgery Oct 19th and have lost about 35 pounds which I think is fairly decent but wish it was more. I just worry if I add so many more calories I will be going over my 1100 I try to stick to. I swim 3-4 times per week for 45 minutes and definitely see my body taking more shape and my endurance improving daily but I am not starving during meals or need to have any sort of snack. I'm finding that I'm very very tight in the morning so do a muscle milk lite each morning, lunch is never big and then a slightly larger dinner- fish, chicken. Any suggestions on more energy.

Thanks

Might be just a general lack of essential Vitamins and minerals, u are already doing what u should it sounds lke, i would maybe get some Iron in from spinach and dark green veg etc. Iron directly affects our blood and that can be responsible for feeling tired and listless .. all 0 fat milk products like skimmed milk, cottage cheese and yoghurt have good Protein - calorie balances maybe add a snack or 2 during the day to top up on your Proteins.

I would try the iron first tho as green veg doesnt hold many calories at all smile.png

Just as a foot note, sometimes we are tired because we are doing a lot more than we used to !

I have been using Pro-Stat 64 - Sugar Free ever since I have been banded.

15gm of Protein, plus essential amino acids.

Was hard to take at first, would take a shot (30ml) and chase it with a swallow of OJ to kill the tatse.

I now add it to my morning shake.< /p>

You could always get some unflavored Protein Powder. I use Unjury brand. Then add it to some of the foods you eat now. For example I mix in a half a scoop to a sugar free pudding cup or to a glass of Crystal light lemonade for an extra 10 grams of Protein. I find myself coming up short on my protein intake too if I dont do a a little supplementing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
