I had my surgery on 10/12/11. So far everything has been good The only problem I'm having is that I have been a eating a little more than usual. At times I over eat, I sometimes eat too fast as well and I feel my port get a little hard. Is that normal? I'm due for my 2nd fill on 1/19/12.

It might be that when your stomach is full, it is causing the pressure on the port. I haven't personally experienced that but I'm sure it is different with each person because of our anatomy and differences in where the surgeon places the ports. Eating slowly really is important. I thought I ate slowly before, but it wasn't as slow as a lap bander needs to eat!

I notice that after meals the area around my port feels hard. I think it is just the new stomach pressing against it as it gets full too.

I feel the same way. I thought I was crazy but I told my husband to feel the port site after I ate and it was a bit puffy and hard. It was weird at first but I guess I am used to it now because I barely notice it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
