I got my band 6 mo ago, and haven't had had too many issues to deal with. Until now.

For the last couple of weeks my hair has been falling out in gobs, especially when I wash it.

Now, I was warned that this could happen while I was actively losing, but I haven't lost anything for the greater of 2 months now, so does anyone have any idea of what is causing this?

I'm fairly confident that this has something to do with the band as I have never had this problem before.

Hair loss is very common with weight loss surgery. Most people I know take Biotin

The Hair loss is usually the effects of not enough Protein or just your body adjusting to the quick weight loss. Mine was thinning for a while. I believe it breaks not falls out. I take Biotin 5000 and keep my protein up. It seems to be helping. Good Luck!!!

I am pre-op and my Dr. recommended Biotin so I have started it pre-op. I am not a person to get a lot of Protein in the first place. I don't eat meat often and I don't like milk, so I am thinking I won't be affected by it so much because my bosy is used to low protein. So it won't be missing it? I get more protein now on the Protein Shakes then I ever did.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
