Pre-Fill Appetite...hoping This Is Normal!

Recommended Posts

Hello beautiful bandsters,

I was banded a month ago, feeling better and have moved on to real foods, and my first fill is scheduled for next Wednesday. I've noticed this week the scale hasn't moved much. Argh! My appetite seems to be at full force. I'm thinking that after my first fill, that will change. This is right...right?

Hungry in Texas,

d

I am a newbie, but have read a lot on this forum which is fantastic and according to the more experienced, yes this is normal and it will change after our first fill. I am trying to watch portion size and eat healthy. Good luck

Yeah the appetite coming back is normal. It might take a few fills to actually *feel* any restriction tho

I'm 6wks post op and I had my 1st fill on 1/4. I don't have much restriction. I did read that it can take up to several fills to feel restriction. And my appetite is in full force. I still eat small portions.

Depends on your body. I did not get restriction for 6 months. Not trying to be mean spirited just giving you my experience. Buy a food scale and weigh your solid Protein. My doctor says 3 oz.

I was banded on Dec 29 and my appetite is also back I'm eating small amounts and for Breakfast I make sure to do a Protein Shake but my first app isn't until the Jan 19. I am back walking at my full stride I will not start jogging or weights again until my doctor clears me but yeah I am worried to because I am doing the same thing the same 3 pounds are on and off but I refused to get stressed about it be because I know that this is part of the process.

I lost 10 lbs the first week & the last two weeks its's been up/down with the same 2lbs. Wearing me out! Hungry, liquids, Soups & hoping that I can start losing sometime soon! See the dr. on thursday, don't know if he will do a fill but something has got to change! I guess we'll keep each other up by watching our calories & knowing we might be eating around the same amount of calories for the next month or so. :) When will 800 calories equate to weight loss?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
