The last couple days the board has given me a server error? Anyways, glad to have you guys back to talk to, LOL

I just ordered the unjury sampler pack- some chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, chicken Soup and unflavored.

What do you guys think of this protein- I like the thought of the unflavored to add to things to get more Protein in.

I can't have soy stuff, this is whey....

Also, what ready to drink Protein stuff do you drink? And what do you think of yogurt as a source of protein?

I am pretty tight in the morning so I have a Premier Protein drink every morning.. They are from costco and they are 130 cals for 30 grams of Protein. I am lazy to do the powders but I used the GNC in the post op phase. Greek yogurt is great for protein and works great as sour cream. I dont like the sweet ones.

I have been using Jay Robb whey Protein Powder. I really like the fact that is uses Stevia rather than artificial sweeteners or sucralose. I know the Vitamin Shoppe has there own version with Stevia that is a few bucks less. That being said, Jay Robb is the only one I have tried thus far. I am going to get some samples at at local shop, which you can also order online at www.nashuanutrition.com. They specialize in nutrition for weight loss and bariatric patients. I believe online the samples are $1.95 each, not sure if they are powder or ready to drink. They may have both. Good luck finding one that works for you :)

Unjury is the Protein Powder that I purchased also. I can't stand the vitamin/medicine taste of other Protein powder. I tried at least 5 of the canned and bottled Proteins and couldn't drink any of them. I think Unjury is the best. My husband just started Protein Shakes along with me. I think I need to be careful of what I add to the powder. I was adding 8oz. of 100% fruit juice and found my blood sugar went up so now I am blending it with Unsweetened vanilla Almond Milk from Traders Joe. Do you have a Oster individual blender? They sell them at Target for $19.99. You mix what you want with your Unjury and then put on your sipper lid and off you go. Great product.

I use Dymatize Elite Protein in Gourmet Vanilla-114 calories, 23 g of protein, 2 g carbs and ZERO Sugar- it tastes like vanilla milk- even tastier when you add 2 frozen strawberries, 1 tsp of honey and 1 tsp flax seed oil and it is a great shake..... the 5lb container makes 73+ shakes and was $46 at the Vitamin Shoppe so it was $0.63 a shake.< /p>

I use the Unjury unflavored Protein powder a lot. I mix Sugar Free Chocolate pudding cup with a little fat free cool whip and a half a scoop of protein powder and is makes a wonderful chocolate mousse. Its also good mixed with lemonade or other flavored waters. Its a great way to supplement your protein intake.

I really like the Premier Protein drink too! Lower carve than most. I also use 0 fat Greek yogurt to add Protein to Soups, scrambled eggs ect. It's really good in soups during the 1st stages.

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
