Relief!!!

Recommended Posts

:faint: OKAY!!! Nevermind that I almost passed out today while the nurse was trying to find my port...I finally have RELIEF!!!

It took her 3 times to get the needle into the port! It kept moving on her and it was making me panic and then I broke out into cold sweats, moaning like a woman in labor!:) (thank god I was the only pt there!! :) ) I was moaning because I didn't want to faint on them. I hate being out of control like that and it really upset me that it happend but the nurse was really great about it and hugged me afterwards! My husband was in the waiting area and heard me and knew that I was having a panic attack and thought "Oh Boy!". But I drank some Water and cooled off and everything was fine after that. The nurse told me that as you loose weight the fat around the port goes away and isn't there to keep it in place so then it is able to turn. Oh well! And she took my whole fill out for me and I was able to actually eat lunch today without pain. And I get to go to Chicago, see Oprah, and have a good time with my mom and mother-in-law and not be in pain! But, until I get another fill when I get back from Chicago I have to be careful and mindful of what I eat, but I am doing that now so it should be ok. Just glad it's done! :clap2:

I had a fill done on 01-26-06 and since then I haven't been able to eat anything solid without it hurting and feeling like I swallowed a golf ball!!! Not even eggs girl!!! :) And then with me going to Chicago on the 27th and seeing Oprah, I didn't want to be miserable! I wanted to be able to enjoy myself. :hungry: Eat and it not get stuck!!! That's all, no other problems! I will get a fill when I get back.

How have you been?

I need a fill bad. I go next Thursday!!! Can't wait. I was able to eat way too much the past couple of nights, so I am excited about my fill.

I hope you get some cool stuff at the show!!! Can't wait to hear about it.

I am glad you got an unfill, that must have really sucked! Did you lose any weight while you were miserable?

Yes I did! I actually lost 5lbs...felt miserable but lost it! Couldn't eat anything solid like fish, beef or chicken so I have to be careful now that I can so I don't gain it back and then some!

Is this your first fill?

I think I am going to call Dr. Spivak's office and go ahead and schedule my fill. I should have done it while I was there but I didn't...duh. :) The restriction just killed me! It was so bad.

I hope your next fill helps out!!! :biggrin1:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
