I have completed two full weeks of a liquid diet post of & for the last week I haven't lost a lb! I'm drinking 500 calories a day and walking for 30 minutes per day. Could my body be holding on to every ounce for I am also not visiting the bathroom much either! The first week average of 700-800 calories was the norm. I know that I'm in the healing section not the losing weight part as of yet, but 500 calories & no weight loss! Help!

I think at that low of a caloric intake that your body might be in "starvation mode" - meaning it will hold on to ALL calories you take it, and will try to not burn any stored fat for as long as possible. Now this won't last long - or people would never die of starvation - but as long as you are staying hydrated and not becoming malnourished then you WILL lose weight. Give it another week or so and see how its going. Good luck and keep us posted!

Without getting into a lot of hypothetical s, I would simply say

"Don't Worry About It"

You can look at being banded into phases, and you are still in the surgery phase, not the weight loss phase. That comes after you heal.

I know it's hard, you have been getting all rev'd up for this and you're ready to get it started. But trust me, it WILL happen!

I GAINED weight. I was apprehensive when I went to see my Dr., and he basically called me a fool, smiled, and pulled out the biggest

needle I ever saw and said "That's why I'm going to stick this in your stomach"

Well, a little exaggeration, but he did laugh at me and said that is why the band gets adjusted.

(I work in healthcare and I've seen some really big needles. Like the ones used to drain knees)

As far as the "Starvation Mode", I'm not a believer in it. At least the way it is thrown around here.

But that's another subject. Let's just say I had enough fat stored away that it would take me 6 months to starve!

Two & half weeks with 12.lbs loss, 10 of it the first week. Doesn't seem right to lose only 2 lbs in two weeks on 500-800 calories a day. Oh well. :( Seeing doctor the 19th, i'm sure he'll say to stay on 800 or less calories per day so I guess slow & steady is the course of the day.

EXACTLY! As my psych doc says "Focus on the process not the number." I know it's hard but when I am stalled this is what I keep telling myself. Also, work with your nutritionist closely. Changing up how your doing it with his/her guidance really helps!

Thanks B-52 you just put it all into perceptive for me.I have been really getting on myself lately. I just need to step back and realize I am still healing and it has only been a month. It's not going to disappear over night. I can't wait to get my first fill next week.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
