When you need a fill was different for me all the time. I based it on my portions. If I could eat a lot more food or would get hungry between meals then I knew it was time for a fill. Sometimes I would be filled and it would be good for 2 months and even longer.

Good Luck

First Fill - Never felt anything

Second - took 2 weeks, then went away

Third - felt it that night, next day

4 weeks between fills should have you at a good place for your next one. "they" say it takes around 2 weeks for a fill to show itself. For some, it's more immediate than that...for me...it takes a good couple of weeks to really know how the fill is going to work for me.

I didn't feel anything different the first 2 fills. My 3rd one was "magic". I got my 4th fill about 2 mths later - then went 15 months until my 5th. I'm scheduled for another fill next Monday - I haven't lost much over the past few months and I still need to lose about 12 lbs. I'm hoping this will be THE ONE that takes me to my goal weight.

Good luck!

I had my first fill last week (4CC's) and I felt it immediately. I eat at least half of what I did between the surgery and my first fill. And that's saying a lot, because it was rare for me to even reach 1000 calories then. It's been a week, and the fill is still going strong! It's strange how it's different for everyone. I've already lost 4 pounds since then!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
