Since my last fill all was going well and the weight was coming off. All of a sudden I find the weight loss has come to a halt the past 3 weeks, and I notice a couple of changes. I get heart burn almost every night now when I lay down in bed and when I eat it does not feel like I have the same restriction I had a few weeks ago. There is stil some restriction, but it does not seem as much. Can any one shed some light?

Heartburn is often a symptom of being too tight. Possibly you are too tight and not eating the correct types of food that would keep you satisfied. The heartburn could also be from eating too close to bedtime or eating foods that cause high acid production .

It is also normal for the restriction to wear off. It happens because as you lose weight the band does not fit as tightly around your stomach. Also small amounts of the liquid evaporate over time. This is why constant followup with your Dr's team is such an important part of the process.

You need to schedule an appointment to discuss this with your Dr.

Restriction wears off as you lose fat under the band...heartburn is controllable with meds if you really want to continue to lose weight...

Heartburn at night is usually caused by eating too late in the evening, at least for me.

I should also add that I am getting a "little" bit of discomfort when I eat. I will contact my doctor, but he lives 1500 miles away, as I am in a remote area.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
