Water-Crystal Light

Recommended Posts

Okay I really struggle with Water. I was told by a Gastric Bypass patient to drink Crystal Light....can Crystal light take the place of Water? Sorta like adding lemon? I am not a big drinker and I don't want to drink Crystal light if it can's benefit me like water......let me know your thoughts!

Birdee, while Water is indeed the best sort of liquid to drink, any noncaloric liquid is fine to tally toward your daily goal of 2 - 3 quarts. Crystal Light is very popular, but IMO if you're going to drink that much of anything you might want to find something with less artificial sweetener. Have you looked into the lightly flavored waters on the market? Fruit2O is one, and I'm sure there are others.

Think about cultivating a taste for Water, though. If your tap water is not good where you are try the bottled ones. Aquafina is my favorite.

What I've been doing is making a big glass of ice Water leaving about an inch on the top and putting in Ocean Spray Light (with Splenda) in the top...gives it a little zing with out all the sweetness of Crystal Light...

I thought about the flavored waters....they are so expensive!!!! I am going to have to get a taste for Water again! I think my biggest problem is I am not a big drinkier never really have been, so even if it was soda sitting in front of me, I would still have a hard time trying to drink it. I am going to make an effort to get in more water....thanks for the input everyone.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
