I remember in the beginning, I was able to eat just about anything once in my solid stage but as I got more and more fills, any type of bread, Pasta, pizza, sushi, tortillas were a no go! I'm at a 6.7 cc in a 10 cc band and I think I'm at my limit. So as you get tighter, most people simply cannot get these food items to go down comfortably but I know some people without any problems, not sure how filled they are though?

I have not been able to eat a sandwich or wrap from day one (2 1/2 years). The good news is that you can get creative and find things that help satisfy the crave. I can eat a few reduced fat wheat thins with my sandwich stuff on them (chew, chew, chew), or wrap the stuff in a piece of lettuce. or roll up a thin slice of lunchmeat with things inside .......

I was just thinking about what I will and will not be able to eat moving forward. I love sandwiches. I hate the idea of having to get them up, but if I have to, then I will. I was good for making them w/ bulky rolls before surgery and have no plan of trying such a thing now that I have the band. However, I was hoping I would be able to try Fiber one wheat things etc...I guess time will tell. I dread having anything to do with getting food "stuck"...

I totally agree with you on that. but i know that we can get creative with out sandwich craves. during my pre-op diet i made a BLT without the bread. i jus wrapped it up in the lettuce with tomatoes and mayo. it was awsome and i didnt even miss the bread. i also read on here that toastin the bread my help it get down easier. i have not had my band filled yet, and right now it is a mental game. so we all gotta do our best and stay strong and remember y we got the band in the first place. im not perfect but im trying my best good luck on your band journey

Today I ate a small turkey and cheese wrap from subway for dinner. I do not have a fill and have not tried bread, rice, or pizza. I usually can't eat much but I was starving. It went down fine but I felt stuffed afterwards. I have lost 22 pounds in 6 weeks so I am not complaining. Good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
