shakey88 37 Posted January 7, 2012 Even though I knew this would happen at some time, I do not think I was emotionally ready for it. For the first time in 29 weeks being banded, I gained weight this week. I have always lost weight even if it was only 0.4 pounds. I have even increased my cardio over the past 2 weeks, so this came to a surprise to me this morning. Oh well, I will get over it, but I was not prepared for this to happen. mdlapband 30 Posted January 7, 2012 Hey Shakey88! Remember me? Remember how I told you that you were my inspiration? Well I just got on this site and for some reason I felt like looking you up to see how your weight loss was going and I saw this. I know we all have those annoying little downs and disappointments, but I wanted to remind you that you've lost 95.3 lbs in less than 6 months!!! Hang in there! You are light years ahead of a lot of other people, so don't let a measly .4 lbs get you down. You're still my inspiration and every time I want to get off the treadmill a few minutes early, I think of how I could be 95 lbs less by June if I keep going. Keep your head up Lots of Love! Dawn200321 146 Posted January 7, 2012 you are probably gaining muscle which weighs more than fat!
FinallyFree0812 9 Posted January 7, 2012 Don't stress yourself over this. A friend of mine doesn't even own a scale for this very reason. The only time she weighs is when she goes to see her bariatric dr.
shakey88 37 Posted January 7, 2012 Thanks...I think the frustration was that I am going away next weekend and I was determined to lose 100 pounds because I have not seen this person since July, like 6 weeks after surgery. I know everything will be okay...and I wish it was 0.4 pounds...I gained 2! Thanks for all your kind words! Hey Shakey88! Remember me? Remember how I told you that you were my inspiration? Banterwonder 63 Posted January 8, 2012 you are probably gaining muscle which weighs more than fat! A pound is a pound, muscle, fat, feathers, bricks.
honk 780 Posted January 8, 2012 I agree that you may have gained muscle. Remember muscle burns calories so it it better for you in the long run. Since my recent lay off I been trying to go to the gym twice a day. This morning I was up 6 oz. Probably Water weight since I know I did not eat 1500 surplus calories yesterday but it still annoyed me.
Jess55 97 Posted January 8, 2012 A pound is a pound, muscle, fat, feathers, bricks. Exactly! Muscle is just smaller in size than fat, making you look smaller. If you lose a pound of fat, but gain a pound of muscle you will still weigh the same, but you will look smaller. I wish people would stop saying that muscle weighs more than fat, because it is so untrue.
shakey88 37 Posted January 8, 2012 Me as the science teacher knows exactly what you mean...fat is less dense than muscle! Exactly! Muscle is just smaller in size than fat, making you look smaller. If you lose a pound of fat, but gain a pound of muscle you will still weigh the same, but you will look smaller. I wish people would stop saying that muscle weighs more than fat, because it is so untrue.
Cazzy 725 Posted January 8, 2012 Its a small amount to gain, could be something as simple as extra salt in something that created some Fluid retention. Might be an idea to change just doing cardio and do some strength training .. Ive always been of a mind that if something doesnt work then make a small change to something, so if the plateau keeps up then think about confusing your body for a while lol it works for me anyways
shakey88 37 Posted January 8, 2012 Thanks...I have actually lost those 2 pounds since writing this. I do strength training every day as well as cardio. I do mix it up, but I am hoping the plateau is over!!! Its a small amount to gain, could be something as simple as extra salt in something that created some Fluid retention.
