Small Cheat Big Issues

Recommended Posts

I had a small empanada during my mushy stage- I did chew well and took my time, i was fine till later that night i felt my stomach distended and like a ball drop in side 2 times. I am very gurgly today and not real pain but discomfort and feel full although sticking to Clear Liquids today- or until this passes! I also know that I am constipated so buyi that milk of magnesia on way home. Anyone else misbehave like me? Please do not yell at me, I know I should have waited to eat that hard afood for another 2 weeks. Just want to know if all is lost...

I will play the food police for Dr Aguila's patients. Grider,I was looking forward to meeting you& recovering you after your lapband surgery ,however I started my Xmas vacation. I would have given advice from my experience as a lapband patient first, then as a nurse caring for his patients for the past 7 years! If you follow the rules you will be successful. If you don't, you set yourself up for failure! Get back on your post-op food guide & follow it for the 6 weeks!

Grider, food police again- no more juice after 1st week. You shouldn't be drinking milkshakes either!

HI, sorry I did not get to meet you - I did ask - The juice was cramberry mixed with gatorade, in the first week, I was explaining how I have kept all the rules until this one thing I stuck in my mouth. The milkshakes he said until 3rd week. I dont have any of those left, but Protein Powder. BUT you are very right, have to watch the P's & Q's. I did not tell people on my job I had wls surgery and I think I just wanted to participate in the whoo whoo, which we dont have often. My mistake. The body feels better since the milk of magnesia, little tug on my left side, maybe gas? and the back feels better like night and day, must have been Constipation? ?? I do wonder if my muscles are so soft in my tummy now, that things too loose in there, still have issues laying on side an stuff.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
