GA_lady 0 Posted January 6, 2012 Hello, I was banded on 12/29/11. My surgery included a hernia repair. My post op was not without complications. I vagaled down, which means my heart rate dropped. It dropped into the 30's, probably a combination of anesthesia and my blood pressure meds. I got up to walk and within an hour developed a hematoma at my port site. Ugh, My stomach looks like Bella's on Breaking Dawn! Everything is slowly returning to normal, though. I have had issues with the post op diet, of course I have tried to eat things I knew I shouldn't. Today, I am returning to liquids and trying to be good. Luckily, I haven't gained any weight back but the loss is much slower than I would like. I am 51 years old and from the south. Old habits die hard, but I am trying. I wish everyone good luck and am looking forward to a much healthier future.
cloudy 11 Posted January 6, 2012 Hi give yourself time and stay on the liquids till time for the other food. You will do a lot better. You can't rush those liquids. When it is time for food you will do a lot better. I was done in May 2011. I have lost 77lbs. I eat pretty much what I want to just a lot less of it. I will be 60 in Feb. I feel like a whole new person. Hang in there!
Linda145 0 Posted January 6, 2012 So........you had a hernia repaired.......hmmmm. I have a hiatal hernia........and am wondering if that will cause issues??
cloudy 11 Posted January 6, 2012 Yes I did. They did it when they did the band and plication. It helps you not have acid reflux and it is easier to swallow. I have trouble with that sometimes.and it helped it.It won't make a difference with the lap band.
