I hope I dont offend any one...but I do love my drinks now and again, and have been bummed because I am unable to have them right now....these beverages are made with agave for sweetness and have little to no sugar or fat...just watch the carbs....the beverage is called skin girl....

i just had a look. as far as the calories are concerned its not too bad. im a red wine drinker, its going to hurt me to have to give up my red wine. i do like a drink to relax especially when out. what alcohol has the least calories? does anyone know?? perhaps i could have the odd drink of something other than red wine. it seems that the red wine has given me more problems with my blood pressure and it certainly has contributed to my weight gain, thats for sure. i just dont think its entirely realistic to go without having an alcoholic drink socially. what do others think?

I was advised by the dietician that wine along with all other alcoholic beverages were not to be used for a full year post-op, as they are irritants to the pouch, which needs that time to heal.

I also enjoyed a glass of wine with dinner on an occasional basis, and just accepted going a year without any was just another part of my journey back to health and a normal weight.

We all have choices to make; I would never question another individuals choices. I just know that my preferred approach to recovery from surgery is to stack the odds in my favor for as few chances for complications as possible!

and i agree with you. health comes first, thats for sure. i will ring my dietician on monday hopefully. i havent spoken to her yet . i know my g.p talked about it. well.. to be honest, i didnt think that it would be an option anyway. truthfully. im prepared to go along with what the drs tell me. if it does interfere with the new pouch then certainly i dont want to run the risk. its just not worth it. too many other health issues at stake with me.

I had my first fill on 2/29. I'm scheduled for a 2nd fill on 3/23. I do notice a tiny difference from before the fill' date=' but I still don't have restriction. :P Happy to answer questions if anyone has them![/quote']

Hey Morelgirl,

How do they find the port. If been poking around my belly and I don't feel anything. I'm paranoid that it's already twisted.

I completely agree with you, I have had a hard time giving up my adult beverages. I just dont know the best way to go about picking one...even if you get less calories, the carbs, sugar is my main concern.

There is the skinny margarita: lime juice, tequila, splash of soda Water and agave.. A lot of places don't have agave, so I have it without. It's tart, but it's fine with me. This was all pre-surgery, though.

Hi Victory,

Well, the port isn't where I thought it was and I still can't feel it well even when I look for it. Mine is about an inch or two below my largest scar to the right side of my belly. When the dr got ready to do the fill, he had me lay down on the table and then left up my head as if I were going to do a crush. This firms up the abdominal muscles so that when he presses down on the port area, the port can't sink down into anything cushiony so he can feel it easily. Even when I try to do this to myself, I still can't feel my port. I don't think your being unable to feel yours means it's flipped or moved. The doctors have a lot more practice than we do, so he'll be able to get it! :)

I don't know the carbs. You're dealing with the tequila and the lime juice for carbs-- more if you use the agave. I'll search around.

that would be good. im not going to start having drinks until im way past the healing stage.

Then it will only be on a very special occasion.

i will ask dr i think. i dont mind drinks without sugar at all. in fact i dont have a sweet tooth . how about you?/

I wish I didn't have a sweet tooth. I don't like sweet drinks so much. I like the hard core stuff-- cupcakes and Cookies. Sigh. I haven't had a real craving since I was banded on 2/26. I know I'll have to be strapped to the chair when it hits me.

i feel sorry for you. i really do. its bad enough for me just wanting food generally. hubbie found some of the yummiest chocs the other day. they were dirt cheap, had just gone over expiry date. i think they were only about 70 cents for a large cadburys pack. i tell you?/ its been hard for me just the last two days leaving them alone.. but that doesnt happen very often with me at all. i love the spicy foods. im worried that i may be very limited as to how much spicy food i can have. that will really shake me up.

when you say sweet tooth... you love cakes? thats hard, especially if you live around areas where they are available to buy. i live in a country area and we dont have shops that sell anything like that at all. maybe im lucky because of that ive never developed a love for cakes. if i make a cake its for hubbie and i never bother eating it. i make cakes with wholemeal flour and no sugar... i use sweetener. he loves them. i just put some dried fruit in them and he is happy.

I don't have to cook for anyone but me, so that makes things a little easier. I was a regular at my favorite cupcake place. They expected me every week. They probably think I've died. I'm just taking it one day at a time. That's all I can do. In the meantime, I suck on sugare free fruit pops for dessert. You probably don't have a Trader Joe's where you live. They have a great sugar free low carb chocolate.< /p>

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
