Feeling good 3 days post op LapBand my gas pains have gone away THANK GOD! My incisions are very itchy thought :/

Today we had a family picture session and afterwards we went to pizza Hut and surprisingly I wasn't to bothered by everyone around me eating pizza and me eating Jello & Atkins shake. :D

I plan to spend the day tomorrow really resting because Monday I return to work.

Hey' date=' I was banded on 2/26 and a couple of my sutures were still draining. I went to urgent care about it today, bc I'm paranoid. Doc said it was fine, but did give me a new antibiotic instead of cipro. (Yay). I've been coughing, too. What causes that?[/quote']

I don't know but it hurts so bad! Might have something to do with the anastisia but I am not sure. But thanks. If it keeps doing it I might call the dr. I am so nervous about getting a infection or something.

Feeling better today! Went to the store with my hubby and we took Kona to the dog park and I got to do a bit of walking. The gas pain is still there and it hurts when it tries to come out LOL. The port is the worst part at this moment, it feels like it is pulling and causing stress in that area. Also I am so scared the port is gonna flip or something.

I am feeling a lot more positive about the whole thing now, for a few days I was doubting myself which made me sad but I am better now.

Thats great news..

I am kinda concerned about my incisions. although I know that they are healing extremely well, the area around the incisions are hard, if I push a little its like there are balls sitting under my skin. Is any one else having this? Is it going to stay hard after healing? Anything I can do stop this from happening?

Thank you!

it is one lump or many little lumps?? often wounds develop a hard area when they are healing. ive had it with various surgeries myself. if it really does worry you or you develop anything else, get in touch with your dr. im sure its a natural part of healing .. my hard raised areas flattened out and became softer and more normal tissue after a period of time.. it may take some months though.

My incisions are the same way each one has a hard ball under the skin- do hope they go away once fully healed

The post-op cough may be caused by the aftereffects of being intubated during surgery. Last summer, I had a surgery which lasted over 7 hours, and following it I had a very sore throat. The banding surgery is a much faster procedure...my throat was not sore, but was irritated and I did experience an increase in coughing after the surgery.

We were banded on the same day, just in different hemispheres of the world! Sorry to read of your initial difficulties, and am pleased that they are strating to resolve. I was in a similar situation with how I felt initially post-op.

I am still on a liquid diet, though this past Friday, I was allowed to add 6 oz of SF yogurt to substitute for an 8 oz servinb of skim milk. Pureed diet is supposed to begin following post-op exam next week...

I really wanted to begin to get some walking in today, but the winds here are 35 mph sustained. Many small branches are being blown from trees. It will have to wait until the weather calms. I have also purchased an exercise bike to use indoors after the summer temperatures come to stay; it should be delivered by the end of this week.

Thank you to who responded to me. I thought it might be a natural healing process...just wanted to be sure. Never had a major surgery.

On a different note, I saw this on tv today....I thought it was amazing and I know a lot of us are trying to tighten up our skin especially around our face....This looks amazing and had to share..

Has any one tried this yet?

One additional thing I would like to add about the healing process is an over the counter gel called "Mederma"...it's a skin care to help minimize scars. I purchased my tube from Walgreen's.

I used it after my abdominal surgery last summer, and it really did help the scars from the incisions fade. I plan to use it again when my current incisions are healed to the point of being closed. It's colorless and odorless, and actually soothing to the healing skin.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
