Everyone goes through this ! Be nice to yourself you arent supposed to be perfect! Everybody had several last suppers before surgery to say goodbye to certain foods and then most of us found out we never had to because we can still eat small amounts of anything!

There are two kinds of people here...those that cheated and those that havent admitted they cheated! Good luck!

Certainly don't worry about what the surgeon will think. The chances of you doing something he/she hasn't seen before are very remote! Leading up to my surgery, I ate like is was my last meal for 3 months. I managed to gain 18 pounds in that time, and frankly I enjoyed the hell out of it. In the end, all the weight gain pre-surgery means is a few more weeks until I eventually hit my goal. I figured I spent 40 years getting to where I was, so what's an extra few weeks.

I just went through a repair to my pacemaker and had to stop exercising for a month. I sat a lot and I am not a sitter, but I couldn't risk dislodging the lead and believe me I didn't want to do that again! So I did what I was told, but I put some of the weight back on because of it. I am hoping my surgeon doesn't cancel the surgery now. I have lost 15 pounds and gained 5 back. Struggling to get it back off pre op appointment is next Thursday. Any input?

I don't think your surgeon will cancel your surgery because of this as long as you explain that you had to have pacemaker repair. After all, losing weight is the ultimate goal of gastric surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
