Hello Everyone, I'm dawg!!

I thought I'd post this to introduce myself because I never gave you fair warning about me.

About me:

I'm an Englishman living in an Idahoan world. It does things to ya. I'm a geek. That does things to ya as well.

My sense of humor is satirical, sarcastic and very very very very dry.

I am frequently perceived as dry, abrasive, condescending, mean, judg(e)mental, calous, and heartless.

Despite evidence to the contrary, there is a slight pulse deep within this stoney heart and I do actually care about people in pain.

I rarely say the right thing. I frequently make it worse after trying to do a "cover your ass" from saying the wrong thing.

If you give me seventeen benefits of the doubts, you might actually start to 'get' me.

I am insanely protective of my wife and will leap to her defense whether she needs my help or not.

I love a good discussion or debate. I'm less fond of arguments and fights.

I think that about covers it.

Wait... I left out zealous and opinionated.

I make a sack full of pittbulls look sane.

Dawg I get the feeling you'd be an absolute hoot in real life. Written words are harder to interpret. I always get the feeling you're tongue in cheek and have a giggle, but I think its hard for people to read the tone of what you've said. Posting that was a good idea, I really hope that clears the air for a lot of people.

I'm an Englishman...

Well, that explains a lot...especially the spelling thing. :)

Serioulsy, I've been reading a lot of Bryce Courtenay lately (a WONDERFUL Austrailian writer) and there are a few spellings used regularly that kinda throw me (like "practise").

I make a sack full of pittbulls look sane.

Yeah, got that.

(lol)

And whatever thread it was where you posted that my post was silly... you were absolutely right.

Welcome Dawg! I've noticed many of the above descriptions in some of your posts... you are definitely entertaining! (Entertainment being one of the main reasons I read here, after giving and receiving support). Good luck to you in your weight loss by association!

I am indeed mostly 'tongue in cheek'.

Not very good at being politically correct either :)

As for the 'hoot' in real life. I'm actually even more of a miserable bastard. I enjoy it :)

...as a expatriot 'Son of the Spud' ---grew up in Boise---- I bid you Welcome to BandLand!!!

And beware the ides of PotatoNacht!!! Spud spores are known to have changed the very function of Silicon chip Life Forms....

Good advice Jack, a bit odd perhaps, maybe even insane... but still good.

Glad you and Susan found your way to our Bandland. You offer a bit of zeal to this board - and have definately brought out a few smiles among the dead.

Welcome!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
