Anyone Feel Tired After Eating?

Recommended Posts

I've been noticing this recently: after eating, I start feeling very fatigued, to the point where I want to go take a nap. I'm not stuffing myself or anything. Anyone else have this problem? What could it mean?

Feeling tired after a meal is fairly common. This article goes a little way to explaining it.

dinner.html" rel="external nofollow">http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn9272-why-we-need-a-siesta-after-dinner.html

If you think about it the post lunch session at a school or on a training course is the most difficult as the students often want to fall asleep. A lot of countries recognise that it is normal to be tired after lunch and they have an official siesta. If you look at nature animals rest once they have eaten. You don't see a pride of lions running around once they have devoured their kill.

But if as you say it is excessive then it may be the type of foods that you are eating. Some foods induce sleepiness more than others. If it doesn't seem to make any difference what you eat then the sensible thing to do would be to go and see a Dr and get some blood work done just to make sure that everything is OK.

Are you eating carbs ? or Protein ?

My Surgeon told me to eat Proteins, but have a little carb on your plate.

It's a kicker for the Protein.< /p>

If you do to many carbs. It's not good for you. Also the saying of a Carb Coma comes into focus.

Wanting to sleep from the food.

Good Luck, I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Shirley.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
