mrsmyers2010 17 Posted January 4, 2012 My scale is 10-15 pounds off! Makes it impossible to tell if I'm gaining/losing. I don't remember where I got it but I know I paid 50 bux for it (grr) so anyone have any suggestions for a good scale? Weird question, I know.. Lol Mrsmyers2010
NWgirl 574 Posted January 4, 2012 Those Withings scales are pretty awesome... they have wifi built in and automatically upload weights to a website for tracking... Of course, they are about $150.
mrsmyers2010 17 Posted January 4, 2012 Wow that sounds pretty nifty, but idk about spending that much! Lol my husband would probably kill me, since I already informed him he has to get me a fitbit! Mrsmyers2010
elcee 3,341 Posted January 4, 2012 It doesn't really matter if your scales are 100% accurate or not. So long as you use the same scales every time you should still see if you have lost or gained. Also remember to weigh at the same time every day with the same clothes on or in the nude. I normally weigh myself in the morning as soon as I get up. I know that there will be a difference if I then get weighed at the Dr's as that is later in the day (when you are naturally heavier) and with clothes on. If you really want to buy new scales fine but I would save the money and carry on using the ones you already have.
Cazzy 725 Posted January 4, 2012 In the Uk weight watchers have their own scales u can buy, not sure about the US but here they are made by Salter which is a long standing brand name of good rep .. I am sure Amazon sell them.
NWgirl 574 Posted January 5, 2012 I did want to buy the withings scale, but think my honey would disapprove. I have a Fitbit too (it is AMAZING) and they have started coming out with apps that you can link to. I am linked to lose it, and am pretty sure the withings can link to that too... Somehow I still can't justify the $150... Maybe in a year or two there will be more competition in the marketplace and I can get one for a lot less.
Caribear 184 Posted January 5, 2012 I know how you feel... my old scale made me want to tear my hair out because if I stepped on it three times in a row, it would give me three different weights, up to 30 pounds apart. And yes, it is on a hard floor, I've had lots of people ask me about that. But I recently got a new scale that was pretty good value for the money. It's nowhere near those high-end scales, but it gives me consistent weights within a pound of each other. It's an EatSmart scale, and it was less than $30 on Amazon. Here's the link if you want to check it out. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001KXZ808/ref=oh_o03_s00_i00_details
laddie1229 18 Posted January 5, 2012 I bought a WW scale at Lowe's for about $40. I weigh before an appt and it is within a few ounces of my docs scales.< /p>
honk 780 Posted January 5, 2012 Just bought the Eatsmart scale but have not used it yet. My other scale has been doing the 5 pound shuffle when you get on and off in a 30 second time frame.
readytogoforit 172 Posted January 5, 2012 I weigh myself at the club. same scale, usually the same time of day; once a week.
lucky2bLAURA 31 Posted January 6, 2012 I have a Healthometer scale. It seems to work fine, it's digital which I prefer. I've had it for 5 or 6 years, and only replaced the battery once. I think it was $20-25. I got it at Walmart. I noticed the other day that my doctor has the same exact scale. All my doctors now use a digital scale come to think of it.... I hate those that they have to move the bar across on... I carry my weight pretty well and they always start out at 200 and then say oops and move the thing to 250 and then move the little thing across the top. It makes me feel so ashamed. :-)
mrsmyers2010 17 Posted January 6, 2012 I think I'll just take a trip to Walmart or Target and get a new scale. Surprisingly, my husband said he would get me the Withing scale! I told him it's too much for a 'scale' but he said whatever helps me stay motivated he doesn't mind splurging, if it's health related and keeps me on this earth with him longer, lol. Sweet boy....anyways it still seems outrageous to me! I just weighed myself 3 times in a row, 279 then 289 then 315?!?! I especially did not like that last # and it almost got it's self thrown out the window, haha...so I will definitely be getting a new one this weekend! Thanks for all y'alls suggestions
