I Finally Had One Of "those" Moments...

Recommended Posts

So I'm 5 days post op.. Still feeling a lil crummy, still a little bitchy that I can't eat the good food I'm making the kids...but I know that it will pass and this is for the best. So I go in the bathroom for my daily weigh, I look at the scale and I'm determined I broke it. So I call my bf in the bathroom. "babe, come here! I think I broke the scale it's not giving me the right reading!" he comes in there and says if I get on this thing and it says 190 it's not broken..I'm like whatever it has to be it said I lost 5lbs in two days !! Well he gets on there and it says 190 on the dot for him. So that means I've lost 20lbs in 15 days!!! I haven't been this excited in a long time! And then of course he calls me a dork and goes back to his computer as I'm doing the boogy in the bathroom. Just thought id share my moment with all of you. ???

That's great. What a good feeling. When I was about a 16, I put on a pair of size 30 jeans...both legs in one side, and walked into the living room. I said to my daughter, "Hey, Maggie. Look, there's room for you in here too!" "Mom, you're such a dork!" "Yea, but I'm a skinny dork!" Here's to being a dork!!! cheers2.gif

Yes, it is certainly is a good feeling to see that scale drop!

But just remember, it isn't real. You have not had anything to eat in weeks.

Eventually you will return to normal, and begin to eat normal food again. So don't get bummed out when that begins.

You will then begin the next phase of being banded, and then you will see the real-permanent weight loss begin.

You are so right! It is a minor victory but the war is not won yet.

Next to where you change font color is a smiley. Click on him and it gives you a few of them at the bottom of the page. Click on "show all" and it will give you a pop up with all of them.

A loss is still a loss.

If you only gain back 6 or 8 lbs., then you know what you have in a loss.

Celebrate them, and Celebrate the NSV's. I like those more then seeing weight loss on a scale.

As long as you feel your winning that Battle ! Your doing just fine. So Congrats !

That is FANTASTIC!!!! But like others say the first few weeks the weight just falls off. After you start eating more solid foods it will not come off as quickly but that is ok, it is a process. I have to remind myself (almost daily) that I did not put it on over night ans it will not come off overnight. CONGRATS again!!

This is true, as is Water weight gain, that can happen too, but it will come off. That's why once you start the mushie stage, you will begin to see what is really coming off. You will count calories, and slowly see it come off.

Go to myfitnesspal.com and sign up. It's free, and allot of us are there keeping track of calories, Protein, exercise, and more.

It can even calculate what you could lose it a number of weeks. You can view other peoples Diary, and see how, and what they are eating. Also it's all kept in memory.

That's why I say a loss is a loss. Sometimes it will keep going, or plateau, or gain some back.

So Celebrate ! Your trying to do this, and your getting there one way or the other.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
