Sleeping Positions....

Recommended Posts

I'm a belly sleeper .....yes, you will. I think it took me about 2 weeks to get back to a belly sleeping position. It helps if you sleep on your side with a pillow next to your belly for a few nights.

That was how I slept for the first few nights as well.

I am sure once you are healed you will be able to sleep in any position you want. sleeping on your stomach should become even easier as your stomach gets smaller!

I sleep with a pillow between my knees and then on my side under my belly..I got in this habit enem I was pregnant and never got out of it. It cushions my port side so it doesn't hurt. I used to be a belly sleeper before kids.

I am 2 weeks out today. Last night I fell asleep in my usual post-op way, which is on my back with a pillow on either side of me for extra protection and comfort, but woke up this morning on my belly! I am a belly sleeper and can't sleep any other way, but after surgery I wasn't gonna even go there. I could hardly stand the pain of laying on my left side with the dang pillow! This morning I was a little sore when I first woke up, but once I started moving around I've was fine. I think your body will let you know when it's ready. Hang in there!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
