The post op diet is for healing. Try your best to stick to doctor's orders. I know it's hard, but you can do it!

Are you on Clear Liquids or just liquids ? if its just liquids i would add some skimmed milk to yoghurt to make it more like liquid, this may help with the hunger :)

Friday is pretty close now so u dont have long to go :)

I know the feeling. I was banded 12/29 and I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooo sick of the liquids. sugar free Popsicle and gatorade has helped me through it, but i want some real food. Just a little longer for both of us.....WE CAN DO IT!!

I can have liquids no chunks. I think one of the other things I'm missing is smoking. If I couldn't eat I would smoke. But I quit the day before my surgery and havent picked up one since. It had been very hard but I thought if I could go without food I could go without smoking too

Om my God I am so happy to see this. I was banded on 12/29 and had a dream last night about steak. I miss chewing and swallowing something bulk. No one told me to do this but I bought shredded fat free cheddar cheese, picked out 5 strands (yes 5 strands) and chewed on it til it disappeared. Just the chewing and the flavor helped me - and there was nothing to swallow! I can't wait until week 3 since my week 2 is yogurt and farina. Week 3 - egg beaters!!!!! Yay!

I was banded on the 27th and spend every waking hour watching the clock for the next hour so I can have 4 more oz of liquid. 6 more days of that. Yae. But now I can't quit crying. I think the emotional loss of eating for joy and eating with my family is taking a toll. I was happy when I ate, now its just alternating liquids every hour to mix it up. I do feel some hunger, but its easier when I take my Proteins. I am so depressed right, I guess its food withdrawal. I know ill get through it and feel better later, just got to keep going!

I have started mushies now week 3 but after about day 8 or 9 I was getting very hungry. I made my own Protein Shakes using the whey Protein Powder with 52grams of Protein ice, and milk in the blender. It filled me up more than the premade Protein Drinks. I also ate the Cambells condensed cream of chicken Soup which really has not chicken and I made it a little watery and strained it. Good luck you will be eating mushies before you know it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
