Is Anyone Else This Cold?!?!? Poor Body Temperature Regulation

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I was banded May 18, 2010 and am down about 95 pounds. I am due to have my TT in 2 weeks. All in all, I LOVE my band. What I don't love is how cold I am ALL THE TIME! I can't ever seem to warm up. Picture me on Christmas morning....in feety pajamas, a bathrobe, under and electric blanket, holding a hot cup of coffee, and in a room with a wood stove. Only then was I comfortable. Does anyone else experience this BONE COLD chill? Will it ever end?!?!?

Thanks,

Katie

It kinda will. But I had the same thing. It's because you lost a lot of your inner fat called omentum which is like an apron for your innards that's why you're chilled alot. You are not alone and you're perfectly normal enjoy the skinny chilled you.

I've noticed that I'm a lot colder than I used to be. My doctor did warn me about it though, which I was thankful for because I knew in advance to make sure to bundle up! It's normal though because like banditarian said, we're losing the fat that used to keep up warm.

Yes, but your body will, eventually, adjust. I am extra cold in air conditioning. In summer, I live in Florida, we keep our air at 78 degrees. In the winter, if we need heat, we still keep it about 75-77. My husband gets cold, too! He likes to wear shorts all year around. I wear sweaters and long pants in winter. Today, it is 40 degrees with a 25 mile wind. I have sweater, jeans, socks and sneakers on. I am good in the house! I keep throws all around on the couch. Good luck, Karen

I'm cold constantly as well. I think I have kind of just gotten used to it in ways. I dress extra warm all the time, but since it's not efficient to wear gloves 24/7 my hands never warm up. I am usually okay being cold inside, but going outside, especially in the wind, kills me. It physically hurts. I think my husband thinks I'm off my rocker when I tell him that :) Does anyone else feel that way? Good luck to everyone on your journey!!!

I used to always be hot... not any more, now I'm often cold. I guess we've lost our "fat coat".

Do you exercise? That is the key to turning on the 'furnace'!

I do exercise regularly and find the warmth factor a perk, other than that I am cold all the time!

You are not alone. I can sit 2 feet from my wood stove burning at 500 degrees and I'm reaching for a comforter.

I was only banded 6 days ago and am freezing!! My feet and hands are frozen. I know I'm only drinking liquids and have no food (I mean fuel) intake - that may be why...

I am nearly always frozen. Used to be frozen, then I had some thyroid problems and went hyper, the I was always hot. Got that figured out, was comfy to warmish all the time. Lost the weight -- now I am back to ice cube land hanging with the polar bears.

It is 82 inside my house right now and my hands are chilled, my feet are in sheepskin slippers, and I have warm fuzzy PJs on...

Then a hot flash will hit..ah the joys! 001_tt2.gif

I was always sweating, no matter what...it was embarassing. I can't wait until summer, now that I've lost all my extra weight and am always cold. Now, I will feel normal!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
