I was banded on 12/29. have lost close to 10 pounds so far based on my pre-op weight.

Not sure if it's because my husband has been taking such great care of me but my hormones are going crazy and wondering when I can be intimate again. I am 4 days post-op and I am certainly not foolish and would not do anything that would put me in any risk of danger but would love to hear some stories (mature crowds please) of how many days/weeks post op where you able to be intimate with your partner. Was there a particular position that hurt less and made things easier to enjoy.

And also, I don't remember when my doctor told me it was safe to take a shower. Is it a week out? I still have my bandaids and don't want to get any skin rashes.

Thanks for your helpful responses.

I was told I could shower the day after i was sent home (so 48 hours) and be intimate whenever I was comfortable. I tried about 5 days post-op think on top would be ok with the incisions and was a little sore the next morning. Just

take it easy and listen to your body.

Hi,

I was also told I could take a shower the day after surgery. As far as being intimate is concerned just be careful. I was not given any restrictions.

I was able to shower the day after surgery. As far as sex, my going home paperwork said no sexual activity for 4 weeks!!! Hope that helps :)

I read about sex after lap band in the "powder room" section on here before I went in- so we knew what other peoples experiences were. Some people waited just a few days, others longer. But it sounded like everyone just went at their own speed, and the surgical partner of the couple being on top helped move at their speed so was less painful. We waited 3 days, just went slow- no problems. Wasn't the best time of my life, he was afraid he would hurt me. I dont know why anyone would be told to wait 4 weeks, that seems excessive- just listen to your body.

As far as shower- my sites were glued and i was told to wait 2 days. I do think these two questions could be inter-related... if I hadn't showered in a week, I might not be getting any sex either, LOL.

Good luck, just go slow. I think it's just one more thing we have to learn how to do with our new and ever changing bodies. And have fun!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
