Onederland Not So Wonderful...

Recommended Posts

I reay wanted onederland for Christmas, but of course on Christmas I weighed 200.0! So come Wed, the 28th, I step on the scale & bam welcome to onderland. So u may be asking why is this not wonderful?...

Well wed happened to be the day of my mother's funeral. After being diagnosed with kidney cancer in sept. my mom went into surgery to have her kidney removed on the 20th. She never recovered from the surgery & I removed her from life support on Thurs the 22nd :( On top of all that on Tues, Dec 27th, I lost a good friend. He died from sepsis, a blood infection, unexpectedly. He was only 35 y/o and had a wife & 3 y/o daughter :(

So it has been a rough week, to say the least. But hey I now weigh 197.2!!!!!!!

I am saddened to hear this about your Mother, and Friend.

My Husband has had Kidney Cancer, and had the right Kidney removed 5 years ago.

He is in extreme pain all the time, and always very sick. Especially from GOUT.

This is very painful, and lasts about 7-10 days each attack.

His other Kidney is functioning at less then 50%.

He will turn 57 on the 15th. but he looks like a Old Man !

The other day he took me by his side, and said you know I'm slowly dieing don't you!

I said no, "I Know he's dieing !" people live on Dialysis all the time. He looked at me as if I was

in Denial, and just don't think that he will die. Well I know better then that.

It's all just a matter of time, everything will slowly shutdown, and he will die. His Mother went

the same way, and I can see how sick he really is. So this is Heartbreaking to watch.

I don't know if this will make it easier for you, now that you know of the suffering involved with living

after having Renal Cell Carcinoma. Yes it gave him a few more years, but it's not living ! He tells me

all the time. That he hurts inside so bad from the Kidney removal. if he would have known this, he would

have rather died. I have been hearing this, and seen the visits to all the specialists, and know one

can do a thing for him.

I feel for you, I really do. It hurts to bury your Mother. I know this for sure.

You have to think about you now. So please take care of yourself, and be proud of your accomplishments.

Shirley.

This breaks my heart yet provides me some comfort @ the same time, does that make sense? My mom was loosing her ability to do the things she loved, knitting, quilting, writing, living on her own. She always told me she wanted to live not just be alive. Her death makes me sad but the realization the she is no longer in pain or suffering helps me find peace.

I am so sorry to hear your husband is suffering so much. It must be so difficult to face each day feeling that way. I will pray for you both tonight.

I am so sorry for your loss. I too lost my mother to cancer. Ill bet your mother was very proud of your weight loss. One of the last things my mother said to me was when are you going to get that weight off. Im sure meant it with love, even though she always had something to say about my weight. So after she passed I used the little money she left me to have my band put in. Self pay here and I would never have been able to afford it with out her. It helps me to think how proud of me she would be. So again I am sorry for your loss. She is looking down from heaven and smiling at your wonderful weight loss. God bless.

Yes it does make sense. You miss your Mom of course ! But yet from a stranger, you here how nasty this silent killer really is.

So you have to figure out wich is better in your own mind, and judgement.

I know it's not fare, but this is one of those Cancers that is kinda kept hush.

Because either you will make it, or you won't ! It all depends on you. There is No Radiation or Chemo Therapy.

They just remove the Organ, and tell you it's like taking out the Gallbladder. There's nothing to it..

Well he believed his Surgeon, and I stuck my nose in several times telling her why don't you tell him about complications from surgery ? There are none ! He will be fine, and he belived her. Now he curses her every time he starts to hurt, or is sick.

He just wanted the truth. They told him if you get past 7 years you will be fine. Well it's 5 for him, and he is not well at all.

I hope you understand that it might be for the better, she sounded like a smart lady ! Because this is just staying alive, but in pain all the time. He's got meds, but he would be asleep 24/7 so sometimes he won't take them,

Anyway . Take Care of yourself. Don't worry, you will never forget her, you always remember your Mother. Those are sweet thoughts

Shirley.and they are true.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
